Our Weapon In Perilous Times

In these times of great uncertainty, we have a sure and concrete promise from God for protection. He states over and over in His word that our protection is in His presence. Our sword of the Spirit for overcoming is speaking His word into the atmosphere. We can be assured that these two simple practices will bring us through our daily life. It will help us with things like a papercut experience or a complete failure in our lives. Whether it is something we were directly responsible for or we were at the mercy of an external circumstance not attributed to our own doing.

The following will help us greatly.

In our daily devotion we should put on the full armor of God daily according to Ephesians 6 verses 10-20.

Eph 6:10-20 ESV – 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

As you see above, we are in a spiritual battle not a fleshly one. I highlighted the core components.

The next key to your victories is staying in the presence of God. When we worship God, (Not petitioning or asking Him for something) we are in His presence. God inhabits the praises of His people. He is with us. He is omniscient. He is everywhere and most importantly with us. King David was a warrior through his whole life. He also was in continual worship and fellowship his whole life. We need to thank Him and have that intimate relationship as do two lovers.

Staying in God’s presence can be a challenge. The outside world void of God’s presence does not want you to stay in God’s presence. Every kind of distraction and temptation to stay away from God is designed to do just that. We must intentionally schedule time with our Heavenly Father. He looks forward to spending time with you. He wants to give you keys on how to live your day, year or next five minutes. I know as a young mom, or the demands of a providing husband are great. I found that if you put Him first every day, your life will change radically. He orders our footsteps to match with our book written in Heaven. The plans for our very life.

Next, is speaking the word of God, OUTLOUD. This is another key to pushing back the darkness in your life. It only has to be one scripture. Do not underestimate what this does to the darkness. The word is alive! Hebrews 4:12 ESV – 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Pick a scripture the Holy Spirit shows you. Speak it outloud! Watch the transformation in your life. Watch the victory it brings.

Praying in the Spirit is a way to communicate with God without the enemy knowing what we are saying to God. It has actually been studied as a real language. It has all the components of what we know as earthly language. It sends shockwaves thru the spiritual realms. We are spiritual beings first. We so often focus on the flesh in our life not understanding we can affect our physical life with the spiritual life. The spiritual life needs to overcome the physical life. Walking in the spirit overcomes the things in the flesh that deter us from the things of God. Acts 19:6 KJV – 6 And when Paul had laid [his] hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. It is a great place here from this scripture to point out that when you prophesy you are speaking out the heart of God according to His word.

Reading His word, daily, is the belt of truth. His word is truth. It can be trusted, and we need to consume it every day. We gain His righteousness as we allow the word to change our hearts to be conformed to His righteousness and not our own self-righteousness. We are forming the breastplate of righteousness in us, as we accumulate the word in our hearts, it brings a readiness to share the Gospel of Peace, which is Jesus himself. They should see Jesus in us. When he is formed in us, we become like Him. Our shield of faith is gained daily by trusting what He asks of us. Trusting Him is simply understanding no matter what it looks like, we can believe what he told us to do or not do. It is His perfect will for our life. I can tell you it often does not look like it is going to work out the way we think it should. His thoughts are not our thoughts, and his ways are not our ways. He is the perfect one. Our helmet of Salvation is literally our receiving Jesus and all the benefits it provides. It quite simply is our welfare. He has delivered us from death and brings to us deliverance, victory, aid, prosperity and health. The word salvation in the Hebrew is H3444 , y shuw ah. The pronunciation is yesh-oo-aw. Yeshua as we have come to know it. Belonging to Him says we receive all that he brings to us. I am posting some scriptures to ponder on below.

Psalm 18:2-3, 28, 43, 47-48 ESV – 2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. ā€¦

28 For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness. ā€¦

43 You delivered me from strife with the people; you made me the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me. ā€¦

47 the God who gave me vengeance and subdued peoples under me,

48 who rescued me from my enemies; yes, you exalted me above those who rose against me; you delivered me from the man of violence.

Psalm 56:3-5, 8-11, 13 ESV – 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

5 All day long they injure my cause; all their thoughts are against me for evil. ā€¦

8 You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?

9 Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me.

10 In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise,

11 in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? ā€¦

13 For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Psalm 17:2, 8 ESV – 2 From your presence let my vindication come! Let your eyes behold the right!

ā€¦ 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings,

Psalm 16:11 ESV – 11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 21:6 ESV – 6 For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence.
Psalm 23:5 ESV – 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Psalm 31:20 ESV – 20 In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men; you store them in your shelter from the strife of tongues.
Psalm 41:12 ESV – 12 But you have upheld me because of my integrity, and set me in your presence forever.
Psalm 51:11 ESV – 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Psalm 95:2 ESV – 2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Psalm 100:2 ESV – 2 Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
Psalm 105:4 ESV – 4 Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!

I encourage you to search out His word for your life and know your relationship with Him is important to Him! This just a small sampling listed above.
